Celebrating Women’s Empowerment: A Reflective Recap of International Women’s Day 2024 at Women Income Network (WIN)

Amidst the vibrant hues of International Women’s Day 2024, Women Income Network (WIN) proudly stood as a beacon of empowerment, hosting an unforgettable celebration at our Demonstration Farm. This year’s commemoration was marked by a profound commitment to fostering inclusivity and igniting the entrepreneurial spirit among women, particularly through the innovative avenue of Maggot Farming.

Empowering Through Inclusion:

Our gathering at the Demonstration Farm was more than just an event; it was a testament to the power of inclusion. As we convened, women from diverse backgrounds came together to explore the possibilities within the realm of Maggot Farming. This unconventional yet promising venture served as a catalyst for discussions on financial independence and entrepreneurship, inspiring attendees to embark on a journey of self-discovery and economic empowerment.

A Showcase of Opportunity:

The event provided a platform for women to broaden their horizons by learning about various business ventures that could potentially transform their lives. We were honored to welcome esteemed guests such as Enoch Muwanguzi of UGABRUSH, Tusingwire Faith representing OKRAH, and the creative minds behind Mawejje Creations. Their insights and experiences served as invaluable resources, empowering women with the knowledge and inspiration needed to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.

Delving into Maggot Farming:

Led by our esteemed Farm Manager, Ogwang Morris, participants had the unique opportunity to delve into the intricacies of Maggot Farming. From understanding the lifecycle of maggots to mastering the art of sustainable farming practices, attendees immersed themselves in a world of innovation and possibility. Through hands-on demonstrations and interactive sessions, women gained the confidence and skills necessary to thrive in this burgeoning industry.

Honoring Champions of Change:

The highlight of the day was the recognition of five remarkable women as champions under our new maggot farming contract project. These trailblazers exemplified dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to excellence. In acknowledgment of their achievements, we proudly presented them with certificates, symbolizing not only their individual triumphs but also the collective strength of women united in pursuit of a common goal.
